Supervision of the import of stainless steel
The European Commission has decided to introduce EU supervision on imports of certain products made of iron and steel, inter alia, from stainless steel.
In accordance with EC Implementing Regulation No 2016/670 of 28 April 2016 iron and steel products, including stainless steel listed in Annex 1, are subject to Union supervision. This surveillance is intended to cover goods imported from non-EU countries, excluding Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, whose net weight exceeds 2.5 tonnes.
Metallurgical products will be released for free circulation within the EU provided that a surveillance document issued by the relevant authorities of a Member State is submitted. The Regulation is in force from 21 May 2016.
